It’s time to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and go back to our roots with what we’re wearing. Now more than ever, the LGBTQ+ community needs to express the pride they have in themselves and their unapologetic queerness for everyone to see. Luckily, Diesel and Tom of Finland Foundation have partnered again following last year’s successful collaboration to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community with an unapologetic Pride collection that amplifies their message of freedom of expression, sexuality and individualism.

The new collection is designed for all genders and features a new set of artists that represent the historical impact of New York City’s gay and queer culture and nightlife. Their photographs are applied as prints or patchworks on the collection’s pieces that range from T-shirts to denim to jockstraps. And to truly feel the artist’s inspiration, a quote from them is printed on a special canvas tape on each garment.

For a sneak peek, the collection contains a sheer, nude long-sleeved T-shirt with a print of documentarian Stanley Stellar of a Dada ball attendee smoking a cigarette. Another one of Stellar’s famous images include a gay couple wearing T-shirts that say “His” and “His Also,” which is printed on a pair of 5 pocket jeans.

To see this Pride collection in person, Diesel is again partnering with The Community and Tom of Finland Foundation to present The AllTogether Clubhouse, a group exhibition and daily event program that lasts all week. Included in the week’s lineup includes an exhibition, panel discussions, a concert and a Pride 2023 party.

This exhibition is more than just clothes. Mixing New York’s past and present queer histories, this exhibition features a multimedia expression of the LGBTQ+ community, presenting historical artifacts and documentation of queer NYC scenes like Stompers and the Piers. Also included is an archival publication of S.T.H. (aka Straight to Hell or The Manhattan Review of Unnatural Acts), the influential gay and erotic non-fiction zine created by Boyd McDonald.

Also during the week are panel discussions, including The Story Time Salon, which will bring together a handful of people who have shaped and bared witness to the ever-changing New York gay and queer nightlife scene over the past five decades. Other panels to attend will discuss the transformation of drag from going underground to mainstream, how cruising has changed in the post-digital age compared to the legacy of NYC’s West Side Piers, and how queer nightlife has continued to serve as inspiration for trends for decades.

And to truly kick off the celebration of Pride, The AllTogether Clubhouse will also feature Hairbone live in concert and a party to celebrate the Clubhouse opening at Nowadays in Brooklyn on Thursday June 22, 10:00pm, featuring some of NYC’s hottest queer artists and party collectives to celebrate.

So, let’s go back to our roots and celebrate our community by wearing our Pride unapologetically and honoring our history. The AllTogether Clubhouse runs from June 21st - 25th at 9 West 8th Street.
