'Difficult choice.' Wired Puppy in Provincetown closes after 18 years, building for sale

The 379 Commercial St. property that most recently housed Provincetown dog-friendly coffee shop Wired Puppy is for sale for the first time in 27 years.

The 1,568-square-foot year-round condo is part of the mixed-use waterfront Bull Ring Condo Association, according to its listing, and first went up for sale earlier this summer.

After nearly two decades, Nov. 26 was the Wired Puppy's last open day.

"Changes in the economic landscape, coupled with shifting consumer preferences and the unique challenges of operating a business in this vibrant but seasonal community, have led us to this difficult choice," read a statement that was posted to the Wired Puppy's website.

The Wired Puppy first opened in 2005 as a European-style specialty tea and coffee shop, owned by David Mazuchi of David Flower Productions and Donna Vaillancourt of the Provincetown Design Group and Provincetown.com.

The property's current owner is Vaillancourt Properties Inc., according to the Provincetown assessor's office.

In 2017, the Wired Puppy was sold to Revelator Coffee, a coffeeroaster now headquartered in New Orleans, according to the Boston Globe.

Efforts to reach the property owner or Revelator Coffee were unsuccessful.

"As we reflect on the memories created within these walls, we want to express our deepest gratitude to each and every one of you. Your support has been the driving force behind Wired Puppy’s success in Provincetown, and we are immensely grateful for the relationships we’ve built over the years," read the statement on the Wired Puppy website.

In 2019, the Wired Puppy's Boston location on Newbury Street closed after 10 years.
