Difficult to predict when Russia’s war against Ukraine will end, says Finnish army commander
Kivinen said the will of the Ukrainian people to defend their country, society’s tolerance of crises, as well as the military, financial and political support of the West had become key factors in the defensive battle.
He added that Russian had been surprised by the amount of support Ukraine had received from the rest of the world.
“It is clear that in the current situation, support to Ukraine should be continued,” Kivinen said.
However, he said the protracted war and mounting casualties on both sides are factors of uncertainty that also affect how long it would last.

In January, the adviser to the head of the President’s Office, Mykhailo Podolyak, claimed that the war would end in 2023.
Ukraine’s Defense Minister, Oleksiy Reznikov, stated that the Russian Federation’s war against Ukraine could end in 2023.
The Chief of the General Staff of Poland, General Rajmund Andrzejczak, said in an interview with NV that Russia has money and other resources for two more years of war.
