JESSICA KARTALIJA: I'm Jessica Kartalija with your evening digital news brief for Tuesday, April 13, 2021. The United States recommended a pause in using the single dose Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccine. The pause is to investigate reports of rare but potentially dangerous blood clots. The CDC and FDA announced they were investigating the unusual clots that occurred 6 to 13 days after vaccination. The pause is only expected to last a few days. More than 6.8 million doses of the vaccine have been given in the US. The vast majority with no more mild side effects.

A police officer and a police chief in Minnesota have resigned following the shooting of a 20-year-old black man during a traffic stop near Minneapolis. After pulling Daunte Wright over for an expired registration tag, officers from the Brooklyn Center police department learned he had outstanding warrant. When the officers tried to handcuff Wright, he struggled to get back in his car. Officer Kim Porter yelled that she would tase Wright but instead, she shot him and he died. Potter and the police chief have now resigned.

The owners of Maggiano's Little Italy in Philadelphia pay dozens of their workers back wages after a federal investigation. The US Department of Labor said that workers of the 12 End Filbert location were not paid for required pre-ship meetings. Some lasted as long as 30 minutes. Authorities said that they recovered $116,000 in back wages for the workers. The Wage and Hour Division assessed a civil penalty of more than $68,000.

A man is fighting for his life after he was stabbed on a SEPTA bus overnight. Police say it appears to be a robbery attempt. It happened around 2:00 o'clock this morning at 5th End Spring Garden street. Police say the 35-year-old victim was stabbed several times and is in critical condition. No one has been arrested.
