JESSICA KARTALIJA: I'm Jessica Kartalija with your evening digital news brief for Friday, March 12. Governor Tom Wolfe today signed a significant expansion of Pennsylvania's vaccination effort. Today, officials said all Pennsylvanians in phase 1A will either have been vaccinated or have an appointment in the next two weeks.

The acting health Secretary issued an order that vaccine providers make their best efforts to get that group scheduled by March 28. Meanwhile, members of the State Vaccine Task Force joining the governor in embracing President Biden's goal of having everyone covered by May. Governor Murphy joined other lawmakers today in North Jersey to talk about federal money heading to the state from the $1.9 trillion stimulus bill. The governor responded to criticism that the bill is bloated.

PHIL MURPHY: Money to help us prosecute our vaccine plan, continue our testing plan, getting schools opened, keeping our first responders and front-line workers fully employed and delivering services. I'm told the number of utility payment arrearages right now is over $700 million. So I promise you, the list of needs in our state--

JESSICA KARTALIJA: The governor today also today COVID-19 vaccination facility in Lakewood, Ocean County. He was joined by New Jersey health commissioner, Judy Persichilli. In Camden, the county Health Department held a pop up vaccination website at an apartment complex, The Branches of Centerville. The Health Department said pop up sites make it easier for hard hit communities to be vaccinated.

Eligible patients were given the one dose Johnson & Johnson shot. A big thank you from Wawa to the support staff of Philadelphia Public Schools. Eyewitness News at Northeast High School. Wawa worked with the district to get 3,000 gift cards and coupons. They will go to food service workers, maintenance staff, IT staff and other school support staff.
