JESSICA KARTALIJA: I'm Jessica Kartalija with your evening digital news brief for Wednesday, March 17. A 21-year-old man is in custody for a shooting spree in Georgia. Police say Robert Aaron Long confessed to the shootings that killed eight people, six of them women of Asian descent. He's now facing eight counts of murder. In the aftermath of what happened in Georgia, Philadelphia police are stepping up their patrols around Asian communities and businesses. And a vigil will take place tonight at 10th and Vine at 7 o'clock in tribute to the victims in Georgia.

Philadelphia has just temporarily closed its first public school this year because of coronavirus cases. Mayfair Elementary will be closed for two weeks starting tomorrow because of multiple infections there. The school just reopened for hybrid learning March 8.

Philadelphia's health department opened a fifth mass vaccine clinic today. It's at the Grand Yesha Ballroom. And it's the first city-run clinic in South Philly. Another is expected to open two days from now.
