JAN CARABEO: Good morning, everyone. I am Jan Carabeo with your morning digital news brief for Saturday, March 20. Gunfire in Philadelphia's Nicetown neighborhood has left one person dead and five others wounded. The shooting happened around 4 o'clock this morning on the 4200 block of Germantown Avenue.

Philadelphia police are trying to track down the driver involved in a deadly hit and run in Juniata Park. A 39-year-old woman was killed around 10 o'clock last night at Erie Avenue and Lawndale Street. Investigators say that woman was hit by a dark colored sedan with heavily tinted windows.

And a milestone at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Last night, Renee Trader became the 100,000th person who got her COVID-19 vaccine there. FEMA opened the site just over two weeks ago. The mass vaccination clinic distributes just about 6,000 doses a day thanks to the help of the US military.

Now for a check on our weather forecast. Here's meteorologist Matt Petersen. Hi, Matt.

MATT PETERSON: Hey, good morning, Jan. It is the first day of spring today, and it's going to be feeling like it. Nice bright sunshine. Temperatures jumping up into the 50s today, which is always some good news. And we're talking about nice quiet winds. It was a cooler and a little bit blustery Friday, but our Saturday looking much nicer. By lunchtime today, sunshine. Temperatures in the 40s for the most part. So a little bit on the cooler side maybe around lunchtime or so. but we rise up into that seasonal, if not a little bit above average, range for the afternoon with plenty of sunshine for us. Highs in the 50s. This evening, we're looking pretty good, too.

And then we wake up on Sunday morning. A cool start to things. We're dropping it back down into the 30s, but it's pretty much right where we should be for the second half of March with these overnight lows. Right around 35, 36 degrees. And then tomorrow afternoon, get back to the 60s for the first time since last weekend.

So if you're doing a little outdoor dining today, yes, it's a little bit chilly. But sunshine and 47 around lunchtime. Outdoor dining tonight for dinner looking absolutely great. Just maybe take the light jacket with you. 55. And then that Sunday brunch, again looking pretty good, too. Temperatures there in the mid 50s once again.

Our 7 day forecast, for the most part, not looking too bad. 50s and 60s. 63 on Tuesday. A few extra clouds start to increase across the area. Jan, we will throw in a chance for a rain shower maybe by the end of next week.

JAN CARABEO: All right, Matt. Thanks so much. And remember you can always get the latest news and weather headlines right here on CBSPhilly.com. I'm Jan Carabeo. Have a great day. [MUSIC PLAYING]
