Dina Lohan Still Hasn't Met Online Boyfriend, Is 'Cautiously Seeing Where Things Go': Source

Dina Lohan is playing it cool when it comes to her relationship with her online boyfriend Jesse Nadler.

The couple, who had been together for five years even though they’ve never met, reportedly split over the weekend. Nadler told TMZ that they had finally set up a time to meet in person but got into a fight and broke up before that could happen.

Amid reports that they’ve since reconciled, a source tells PEOPLE that the two still haven’t come face-to-face. But Dina, 56, isn’t too concerned about it.

“Let’s see if he advances this to a three-dimensional relationship or if they just stay Facebook friends,” the source says. “Dina is relaxed about the whole thing and focused on her projects.”

The source adds: “She is cautiously seeing where things go before defining it, and how he treats the relationship next will define it.”

A source previously told PEOPLE that despite what Nadler told TMZ, “there was no meeting scheduled” as “Dina was already suspicious that he was media-hungry and she is in talks about doing several new shows, including a dating show.”

“This guy wants his 15 minutes of fame — he just proved her suspicions correct,” the source said. (Dina, of course, is mother to actress Lindsay Lohan, 32.)

The relationship came to light during her time as a contestant on Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year. She revealed that she had been talking to “a special someone” for five years, even though they’ve never actually met in real life — or even over video chat.

The New York-based star said she hadn’t met her longterm boyfriend yet because he was living on the West Coast taking care of his mother and doesn’t use FaceTime.

“He’s real,” she insisted. “I swear, it’s crazy. But I’m going to marry him. It’s really, really true. I talk to his ma!”

And while Lindsay Lohan‘s mother was confident the relationship was real, her fellow houseguests thought the star was likely being catfished — and apparently so did Nev Schulman, host of MTV’s Catfish. The man who popularized the phrase referring to people being duped into online relationships immediately offered his services in tracking down the mystery man, identifying him in February as Jesse Nadler, a 53-year-old from Tiburon, California.

Nadler then came forward to Page Six and insisted that he was “the real deal.”

“I’m a good guy,” he said. “Just the thought of people thinking I could be a catfish when everyone knows me and knows how hard I work and how I respect women and mothers, it just kills me.”
