Dine out and fight hunger during OKC Restaurant Week

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – Metro restaurants are teaming up with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma to dine out and fight hunger.

According to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma, dine out and fight hunger is during OKC Restaurant Week. Around 40 local restaurants and breweries will be participating and donating a portion of sales to fight hunger.

“Giving back to our community is core to who we are here at Bank of Oklahoma,” said Greg Wheeler, Bank of Oklahoma market president of Oklahoma City. “As a company that is focused on supporting local each day, OKC Restaurant Week is the perfect combination to encourage our employees and community to support restaurant owners that are generous enough to give a portion of their proceeds to provide for Oklahomans that are experiencing food insecurity.”

Officials say OKC Restaurant Week is planned for March 5 – 10. The week-long event is featuring a James Beard award winning chef alongside various restaurants, including some on the best new restaurant list in national publications. “We highly encourage the public to indulge in the vibrant restaurant and brewery culture in Oklahoma City,” said Stacy Dykstra, chief executive officer of the Regional Food Bank. “Not only will you be supporting our friends in the restaurant industry, but you’ll also help provide thousands of meals to our neighbors living with hunger in central and western Oklahoma.”

According to the food bank, Oklahoma ranks among the hungriest in the nation. The donations from OKC Restaurant Week will go towards Oklahomans who utilize the Regional Food Bank and its partners.
