If you're looking for a Christmas Eve or Day meal at a restaurant around the metro, the Des Moines Register has you covered. Many area restaurants are open with limited hours this holiday season, and some are serving special menus for Christmas diners.

AJ's Steakhouse
Prairie Meadows' steakhouse is serving a special three-course menu on Christmas Day from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Diners have their pick of several course options including shrimp cocktail, cherry wood smoked ham and filet mignon with desserts including a chocolate Christmas torte and eggnog cheesecake.

Cheng's Garden
Cheng's Garden will be open regular hours from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Christmas Day serving Sichuan- and Cantonese-style dishes. Celebrate the season with house specials such as the Sichuan-style chicken and shrimp with mixed vegetables coated in a spicy sauce. No reservations are needed.

Fleming's Steakhouse
Fleming's partners with Napa Valley's Duckhorn Vineyards for a one-of-a-kind holiday meal with wine pairings on Christmas Eve starting at 4 p.m. The four-course meal starts with a seafood Louie salad followed by a wild mushroom polenta cake. Diners have their choice of surf-and-turf options for the main course, and Fleming's is serving orange olive oil cake for dessert.

Hibachi Grill & Supreme Buffet
Hibachi Grill's buffet-style dinner is available on Christmas Eve and Day from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Build-your-own Christmas meal from more than 250 buffet options with Christmas specials including cajun seafood, baked calamari and bacon-wrapped shrimp. All-you-can-eat dinner ranges from $14.99 to $17.99. No reservations are needed.

Mulberry Street Tavern
The warm and inviting dining space inside the Surety Hotel is open regular hours on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day from 5 to 9 p.m. The full dinner menu is available with hearty winter selections such as beef or vegetable curry pie and a shellfish platter for two. Pair your meal with one of Mulberry's signature cocktails — an apple cinnamon mule might make the night merry and bright.

Perkins Restaurant and Bakery
Select Perkins locations are open on Christmas Eve from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Christmas Day from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Diners will be able to select from a special Christmas menu in lieu of the regular menu. Call your local Perkins to confirm that it is participating.

It's double the festivities at Splash this Christmas Eve from 4 to 8 p.m. as the restaurant celebrates the 129th anniversary of the Homestead Building. The full Splash menu will be available along with a special birthday menu. Pick from featured items such as pan-roasted Caribbean snapper alongside sticky rice risotto and green papaya salad or Berkshire osso bucco braised for 60 hours. Wine pairings are available.
