New dining options at Lexington’s Greyline Station include popular wing restaurant

Greyline Station, a renovated Lexington bus station, has been a hub for local entrepreneurs and for foodies since it opened. The neighborhood has a thriving restaurant scene with several new dining options.

Across the street at the corner of North Limestone and Louden Avenue, a new Mexican restaurant opened in May. Mexico Mi Amor features a menu of Tex-Mex favorites and authentic Mexican specialties.

And there are several new dining options inside Greyline, too.

Wing KYng, which opened on Southland Drive with carryout orders from the commercial kitchen inside Southland Bagel, has moved to a Greyline corner spot.

Owner Thomas Williams said that an expansion to bricks-and-mortar restaurant was always his plan. The new location has seating for 16 inside and there are outside and communal seating options in Greyline.

With more room, he has added boneless wings to the menu that also includes traditional wings and fried potatoes, still with the same popular 30-plus flavors. The best seller is Dirt Bowl Classic, a house blend of sweet and spicy with hints of honey mustard, tang from vinegar and spice from the seasoning.

You can get six, nine or a dozen wings for $11-18, and add a half-pound of potatoes for $3 more. Or if you’ve got a crowd to feed, 100-pieces bone-in wings is $138. Just want potatoes? A small is $5 and a large is $9.

Cookies and Nana’s Pudding are available for dessert.

Wing KYng opened in Greyline on May 2. “It’s been great, my traffic has almost tripled,” Williams said.

Wing KYng is open noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday for now.

Old North Kitchen

Old North Bar, one of the original tenants of Greyline, is expanding to add a kitchen and more seating. Owner Wes Hogan said Old North Kitchen is expected to open in June. The menu will focus on “good classic pub fare,” Hogan said, including burgers, chicken sandwiches, brats and vegetarian fare including black bean burgers. Salads and soups also will be offered.

More seating will be added, too, with booths coming for the windows. There still will be space for live music and other nightly entertainments including trivia and karaoke, he said.

The kitchen will mirror the bar’s hours, opening for lunch Thursday through Sunday and for dinner Monday through Wednesday.
