Jul. 4—It's the 4th of July — a summer celebration. And grilling is the perfect way to make dinner for the occasion.
We're cooking up something that sounds simple but which explodes, like fireworks, with flavor: Red, White, and Blue Sliders.
Because who doesn't love a mini burger, right? They're just fun.
And ours are topped with creamy, salty, luscious blue cheese and spicy Red Hot sauce so we can coordinate our meal with the holiday colors.
Enjoy some festive food in honor of this Independence Day weekend.
Red, White, and Blue Sliders
1/2 pound ground chuck
Freshly ground black pepper
1 ounce blue cheese (i.e.: Danish blue, which is creamy and melts well)
Red Hot sauce
3 Roma tomato slices
3 slider buns, toasted if desired
Side dish(es) of choice: potato salad, chips, pickles, cole slaw
Preheat the grill to medium-high.
Place the ground chuck into a bowl and season to taste with salt, pepper, and steak seasoning. Gently form 3 patties; use your thumb to make a depression in the center of each, so they don't form domes.
Place the patties onto the grill and cook for 2 to 3 minutes. Flip and cook for 1 to 2 more minutes, or until they're nearly at the desired doneness, then place the blue cheese over the patties and cook 1 more minute until the cheese is melting.
Set out the bottom buns on a plate and top each with a tomato slice and a burger patty. Splash liberally with Red Hot sauce, then cover with the top buns and serve with your chosen side dish(es).
Alternatively, cook on the stovetop in a cast iron or other heavy skillet.
