Dionne Warwick asks Jack Dorsey for a raise after going viral on Twitter
Put your money where your trends are.
Dionne Warwick, beloved singer and recent Twitter star, says she was the No. 1 trending topic on Twitter Tuesday and now she wants CEO Jack Dorsey to compensate her.
“Okay...I am going out at number 1,” the “That’s What Friends Are For” singer, 80, tweeted shortly after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
“This was fun. I will look for my raise on the next pay cycle, Jack. Bye!” the Grammy winner quipped.
Warwick dominated the site after posting a 7-second video late Tuesday afternoon in which she said, through a unicorn memoji: “I won’t stop doing my bios until I’ve taken over Twitter, so there.”
“New @Twitter Rule: When you join the app, you have to have a bio written by me or it doesn’t count,” the “I Say a Little Prayer” singer tweeted. “Quote twote this with my hash tag #dionnewarwick!”
That tweet has garnered about 12,000 likes and was followed by Warwick asking her half a million followers: “Am I trending at number 1 on @Twitter yet?”
Warwick, whose own Twitter bio reads “I am not writing a bio,” joined the site in 2012 and became a bonafide phenom late last year, because of her tweets avoiding trending phrases and questioning the stage names of musicians like Chance the Rapper and The Weeknd.
