Discount retailer has closed one Lexington store but is reopening in a new location

The Burlington store on Richmond Road in Lexington has closed, but a new Burlington location will be opening soon in Hamburg Pavilion.

The new store will open Oct. 29 at 1937 Star Shoot Parkway, the retailer said in a news release. That is the storefront formerly occupied by HH Gregg and most recently occupied by Adrenaline Entertainment Center, which announced in Aug. 2020 that it was closing because of economic fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The store has about 65 associates and is still hiring, the company said in a news release.

Burlington, formerly known as Burlington Coat Factory, carries men’s, women’s and kids clothing, along with footwear, baby gear, home goods and pet items. The off-price retailer still offers layaway.

The retail chain says the new store will be open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. After a ribbon-cutting at 7:45 a.m. Oct. 29, the first 100 adult customers will receive a $5 bonus card, the company said. Free Burlington umbrellas will be distributed while supplies last at the new Lexington location Oct. 30.

Burlington is based in New Jersey and has 792 stores in 45 states and Puerto Rico, according to the release.

Burlington opened a second Lexington store in South Park shopping center on Nicholasville Road last fall in the space formerly occupied by Toys R Us.
