The Dish: Bourbon tasting slated for Aug. 31 in Palm Beach

A Kentucky native known as The Whiskey Professor will lead an Aug. 31 bourbon tasting at Virginia Philip Wine & Spirits Academy in the Royal Poinciana Plaza.

Bernie Lubbers, author of “Bourbon Whiskey: Our Native Spirit,” will guide guests through a tasting of six different bourbons at the 6-7 p.m. affair.

He also is the global whiskey ambassador for Kentucky’s family-owned and -operated Heaven Hill Distillery.

Bourbons are set to include Elijah Craig Small Batch, Elijah Craig Straight Rye, Larceny Very Special Small Batch, Rittenhouse Rye 100, Evan Williams 1783 and Evan Williams White Label.

Guests can attend the event in person at the shop or online via Zoom. Participating via Zoom entails picking up samples of each of the six bourbons at the wine-and-spirits shop before the tasting takes place.

Both attendance options are $50 a person; advance reservations are required.
