Disney: Build-your-own lightsaber shop reopening at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Savi’s Workshop, a store where theme-park visitors assemble their own “Star Wars”-style lightsabers, is set to return to the lineup of experiences at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the company announced Wednesday.

The group activity, led by themed “gatherers,” will operate again at the Black Spire Outpost section of the park inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge beginning Sept. 20, Walt Disney World said. Reservations, which are recommended, can be made as of Sept. 16.

The workshop is a hands-on experience that debuted with Galaxy’s Edge in August 2019. New distancing guidelines will be instituted as part of the coroanvirus pandemic precautions at the resort. Since Hollywood Studios reopened in mid-July, the Savi’s space has sold preassembled lightsabers but not offered the “build-your-own” option.

Nearby theme park stores and two major “Star Wars” Rides have been operating under limited capacity since the theme park reopened. Some park stores and restaurants have remained closed at Walt Disney World as the parks reopened to the general public.
