The Muppets Mayhem will not be getting a season two, with Disney+ opting to axe the series.

The show followed Nora (Lilly Singh) as she dealt with Dr Teeth and the Electric Mayhem and their aspirations of a successful music career.

The show will be no more, however, with TVLine reporting that the show had been cancelled. Series creator Jeff Yorkes also confirmed the news on X, writing: “What a long, strange trip it’s been! The highs (thanks Zoot!), the lows…

“A huge thank you to our loyal fans and viewers. I hope audiences continue to discover our little show and that it brings them some joy… and some Mayhem!! Rock on!!”

The cancellation has scuppered the plans made by Yorkes, Adam F Goldberg and Bill Baretta, with the trio of producers previously outlining their desires to see a shared universe involving the Muppets.

“Jeff, Bill, and I have very lofty dreams that Disney starts this Muppetverse where it's just like Marvel or Star Wars, this web of movies and specials and animation,” said Goldberg. “We would love to help them do that.

“But if you're going to do that – they started just with Iron Man, right? So for us we're just doing a show about the band; let's focus on this one very specific corner of the Muppet Universe. Let's show Disney and the audience there are whole backstories here.

“We just want you to fall in love with this band. Let's not worry about anybody else. And from there, let's now kind of branch out and do even more. In fact, we were kind of more excited about introducing new Muppet characters. That was always a goal for us.”
