Disney classics, live music and more: Here are 5 things to do around Peoria this weekend

April is full of fun activities. Here are five events you might want to check out in the Peoria area this weekend:

Peoria Sister Cities International Night

The four Sister Cities groups of Peoria (Friends of Friedrichshafen, Germany; Benxi, China; Clonmel, Ireland; and Aytou, Lebanon) will host Peoria Sister Cities' International Night on Friday, April 28, at the Itoo Hall, 4909 W. Farmington Road. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Entry fee is $5 per person. $1 food tickets can be purchased and used at any of the food stations, which will offer a variety of ethnic food samples for $1, $2, or $3. Cultural entertainment will be available throughout the evening.

Disney film festival

The "Disney Film Festival" will celebrate the Golden Age of Disney this weekend at the Peoria Riverfront Museum. The festivities will begin with a Disney Villains Trivia and Cocktail Night at 6 p.m. Friday, April 28. On Saturday, April 29, Laura Algar will present "Growing up Disney" at noon, followed by showings of "Bambi" at 2 p.m. and "Mickey Shorts" at 5 p.m. The weekend will conclude on Sunday, April 30, with a Royal Tea Party at noon and a showing of "Sleeping Beauty" at 2 p.m. For tickets and more information, visit peoriariverfrontmuseum.org.

Live at the Five Spot

ZA Funk! will perform their mix of blues, rock, soul, funk and gospel music from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, April 28, at the Contemporary Art Center, 305 SW Water St. Tickets are $8 for members and $12 for the public in advance online at 309tix.com or $12 for members and $16 for the public at the door.

Celebrating Judy Garland

"Happy 100th Birthday, Judy!" will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at Renaissance Coliseum at Bradley University. Internet sensation Debbie Wileman, along with the Peoria Symphony Orchestra, will perform songs from the entirety of Judy Garland's career. Tickets start at $26 for the public and $11 for students and can be purchased at peoriasymphony.org.

Buddy Guy farewell tour

Blues legend Buddy Guy will bring his "Damn Right Farewell" tour to the Peoria Civic Center at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 29. Tickets start at $39 and can be purchased at peoriaciviccenter.com.
