Disney Cruise Line named 'world's best' by Travel + Leisure readers
Disney Cruise Line was voted the No. 1 best mega-ship ocean cruise line in the world by readers of Travel + Leisure.
Jumping from the No. 2 spot last year, Disney Cruise Line beat out Cunard, which had topped the list for years and is known for its sophistication and cuisine, according to Travel + Leisure World's Best Awards. But the publication's readers have spoken and noted Disney's refined dining options, entertainment and adults-only pools and social spaces when filling out the annual survey.
The publication defines mega-ships as vessels that can carry at least 2,200 passengers. The survey asks readers to weigh in on individual cruise ships' cabins and facilities, food, service, itineraries and destinations, excursions and activities, and value.

Disney has a fleet of four ships, the Magic and Wonder, with capacity for 2,713 passengers each, and the Dream and Fantasy, which can accommodate 4,000.
The Dream and Fantasy are based year-round at Port Canaveral, Florida. Under an agreement between Disney and the port, the cruise line will have three ships based at Port Canaveral after its fleet expands.
“It certainly is a testament to the one-of-a-kind entertainment and experiences available on our ships," said Disney Cruise Line President Jeff Vahle, in reacting to the new ranking. "But it also speaks to the attentive service and unforgettable moments delivered by our cast and crew members. They are the secret to our magic, and this recognition goes to them.”
Disney Cruise Line launched in 1998 and continues to grow with new ships scheduled for delivery in 2021, 2022 and 2023.
