Disney+ Honors Cameron Boyce With 'Descendants' Character Avatar
Disney+ has officially launched and while many fans are enjoying the catalog of Disney classics and the "Mandalorian," some noticed a touching tribute that the magical organization did to honor the late star, Cameron Boyce.
Boyce tragically passed away in July after suffering a seizure while battling an ongoing illness. He was the star of many movies and Disney projects but he is best known for his role as Carlos, the son of the 101 Dalmatians villain, Cruella de Vil, in the Disney Channel movie, franchise, "Descendants."

What Did Disney+ Do?
When you sign up for the new streaming service, the Disney+ user interface allows you to edit your profile to change information like your name and the avatar you want to be associated with.
There are hundreds of choices, including some of your favorite Disney characters, heroes, and villains. There is also a selection of avatars from the Disney Channel and the characters from "Descendants" are a popular choice.
In a heartwarming gesture to Boyce and his fans, his character Carlos is available and if selected fans will have fond memories of the star who left us too soon. When fans start up the service, they can now watch two of Cameron's movies, "Descendants" and "Descendants 2" as well as his numerous appearances on the show, "Jessie," a Disney Channel original series.
Boyce Passed Away In July
The young star suddenly passed away from suffering a seizure while battling an ongoing illness at the age of 20. After the tragedy, his family released a statement via a representative.
"It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we report that this morning we lost Cameron. He passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated. The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him. We are still trying to navigate our way through this extremely heart wrenching time, and continue to ask for privacy so that the family, and all who knew and loved him can grieve his loss and make arrangements for his funeral--which in and of itself, is agonizing."
Cameron's father, Victor Boyce shared a picture of Boyce from right before he passed and wrote a touching tribute.
"My son. Just hours before he was snatched from our lives. I miss him terribly. I hope that no one ever has to feel the agony I’m feeling but no one is immune to tragedy. The outpouring of love and support our family continues to receive is so beautiful and appreciated. Thank you all for helping us through our worst possible situation. 🙏🏾❤️"
Disney's Statement About Cameron
Many Disney employees loved Boyce and the joy he brought others through his acting. The company issued a sweet message saying that he will live on.
"From a young age, Cameron Boyce dreamed of sharing his extraordinary artistic talents with the world. As a young man, he was fueled by a strong desire to make a difference in peoples' lives through his humanitarian work. He was an incredibly talented performer, a remarkably caring and thoughtful person and, above all else, he was a loving and dedicated son, brother, grandson and friend. We offer our deepest condolences to his family, cast mates and colleagues and join his many millions of fans in grieving his untimely passing. He will be dearly missed."
