Disney looks to expand solar power production with two new solar arrays
Disney announced planned construction on two new solar arrays that will more than double the amount of solar energy supplied to Walt Disney World Resort.

In an announcement Monday the theme park giant said once combined with existing solar arrays the two facilities in Gilchrist and Polk counties would generate 40% of energy used at Walt Disney World.

Walt Disney World Resort president Jeff Vahle said the new arrays will help the company reach its goal of net zero emissions by 2030.
“Our commitment to the environment goes beyond imagining a brighter, more sustainable future by putting possibility into practice to ensure a happier, healthier planet for all,” Vahle said.

Disney said once completed the solar arrays will make Disney one of the largest commercial solar consumers in the state.
