Disney Plus announces crime K-drama ‘The Worst of Evil’ starring Ji Chang-wook, Lim Se-mi and Wi Ha-joon

Disney Plus’ upcoming original K-drama series “The Worst of Evil” has been announced for a 2023 premiere.

Disney Plus made the announcement on Tuesday. The series is a crime-drama set in 1980s South Korea that focuses on undercover police investigators infiltrating a criminal empire inciting a drug war among Korea, China and Japan.

Ji Chang-wook, best known for his roles in “Healer,” “The K2” and Netflix’s “Backstreet Rookie” and “Lovestruck in The City,” will star as officer Kang Joon-mo. He will be joined by Lim Se-mi, best known for her supporting role in the hit webtoon K-drama adaptation “True Beauty,” who will play narcotics officer Yoo Eui-jung. Wi Ha-joon will play the villain Jung Ki-cheol, the leader of a criminal organization.

Han Dong-wook, who previously worked on the film “Man In Love,” is slated to direct.

The series adds to Disney Plus’ ever-growing catalog of K-drama content, which includes “Snowdrop,” starring BLACKPINK’s Jisoo; “Big Mouth,” starring Girls’ Generation member YoonA; the legal drama “May It Please The Court” and Kang Daniel’s “Rookie Cops.” Disney Plus aims to greenlight over 50 Asian-Pacific original series by 2023.
