Disney Shared Their Dole Whip Recipe And It's Super Simple

No matter how badly you want to, you can’t go to Disneyland or Disney World right now. While this is a wise and total necessary decision with respect to public health, it doesn’t make the situation any less of a bummer for families whose trips were put on hold or Disney superfans with a craving for some of the parks’ most famous treats.

But just because we have to keep our distance from Disney parks doesn’t mean we can’t all enjoy some homemade versions of their signature snacks and desserts. Disney recently unveiled their churro recipe, but now they’re lifting the proverbial curtain to show you how to make one of their most desired desserts: Dole Whip.

This week, the Disneyland App sent out a notification letting fans in on the secret of how to make their “frozen pineapple treat” (we all know what they really meant), and it looks to be pretty simple as long as you’ve got access to the right ingredients. Specifically, those are vanilla ice cream, pineapple juice, and frozen pineapple. Definitely the kind of stuff you can stock up on and enjoy long after we’re all allowed back outside again.

To make the Dole Whip, all you have to do is take a big scoop of the vanilla ice cream, and combine it with four ounces of pineapple juice and two cups of frozen pineapple. Toss that in a blender until the ingredients combine into something smooth and thick. From there, it looks like you’ll want to add the mixture into a piping bag so you can give it that signature swirl when it’s time to serve. And that’s it!

If you want your frozen treat to taste just like the stuff at the theme parks (or don't do dairy), use Dole's official recipe that even Disney can't lay claim to.

With a history that dates back to the mid-’80s, Dole Whip is a Disneyland cult classic. A lot of homemade recipes attempting to approximate its exact formulation have come and gone over the years, but you’d have to think that a recipe shared by Disney itself qualifies as the real deal.

So, yes. It sucks that Disney is closed and we’re trapped indoors, but maybe a bit of homemade Dole Whip can ease the pain as the weather starts to get warmer. At the very least, it could be a good way to kill some time and keep your sugar-addicted kids entertained.
