Disney: Tron ride will open with virtual queue, no standby line

Walt Disney World will use a virtual queue for its new Tron Lightcycle / Run ride when it opens at Magic Kingdom in April, the company said Friday.
Park visitors with valid admission and a theme park reservation for Magic Kingdom on the same date may request to join the line remotely via the My Disney Experience app. There will not be a standby line for the Tron ride when it opens to the public on April 4.
Disney did not yet share details about the timing for the Tron queue, but the system is similar to the one it uses for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, which debuted at Epcot last year. For Cosmic Rewind, visitors can secure a spot from afar at 7 a.m. and try again at 1 p.m. from within the park if unsuccessful earlier.
The resort previously used a virtual queue for Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at Epcot and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
In addition, Magic Kingdom visitors may opt to buy Lightning Lane entry to the Tron ride, which is under construction next to Space Mountain in Tomorrowland. Potential riders will use the Disney Genie Service Tip Board in the app to secure arrival windows. (Pricing will vary, and Disney did not announce a range).
Lockers for the Tron ride will be free and incorporated into the queue. They will be paired with tickets or MagicBands. The ride vehicles will have a small compartment that can hold items such as mobile phones and sunglasses.
Disney has said there will be a preview of the ride for cast members and opportunities for Disney World annual passholders to get on board before the grand opening.
