In a valley with no shortage of elaborate clubhouses, the one planned for Rancho Mirage's Cotino development will stand out for a unique reason: It's going to be modeled after the (fictional) home of a family of superheroes.

On Friday, Disney’s residential development arm released renderings of a planned clubhouse within the community that it says will be inspired by the mid-century modern home of the Parr family, who's the focus of “The Incredibles” franchise. Disney didn't say when the clubhouse will open.

Fans of the second film will likely remember the home for its spectacular wall of windows and the high-tech remote-control system that character Dash memorably discovers can be used to make water fall from the ceiling and reveal swimming pools in the floor.

Alas, a Disney press release is silent on whether the Cotino clubhouse, which is called “The Parr House,” will have such a system. But it says the main entertainment room will featuring a towering indoor-outdoor rock fireplace inspired by some of the rockwork in the movie house.

Renderings of the exterior, meanwhile, suggest the structure will resemble that of the home in the movie, and include both the angled roof and wall of windows. But unlike in the movie, where the house looms above a skyscraper-filled city, the clubhouse will be perched over Cotino’s planned 24-acre lagoon. The house will offer a “super fun place” for special events, celebrations and limited overnight stays for members of Contino’s artisan club, which residents will have the option of paying to join, according to the release. It bills the house as an immersive environment that “will feature iconic décor, curated art and rich colors from the film.”

The other spaces mentioned in the release include five bedrooms, a kitchen, a dining room, a boardroom and an art studio. There will also be an elevated patio offering lagoon and mountain views.

The release also states that the clubhouse will be “managed by Disney cast members” but does not elaborate on what that means. It says the house will be part of a larger clubhouse complex that will feature other spaces for dining, wellness, art, recreation and entertainment activities.

“All amenities are being thoughtfully inspired by Disney Imagineers to foster community connections and encourage the pursuit of individual passions,” according to the release.

Although the talk of “Disney cast members” may conjure costumed characters walking the streets, the company has made it clear that's not the plan for Cotino. So don't expect to see Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl enjoying a cocktail at the clubhouse — as far as we know, anyway.

The release notes that membership will also come with access to an exclusive lagoon beachfront area and club only open to club members and water recreation activities. Members, who do not have to live at Cotino, will also be able to purchase access to other entertainment and events. It does not say how much membership in the club will cost or how many memberships will be offered.

Construction started in April 2022 on Cotino, which will be the first of what the company hopes will be the first of multiple Disney-branded "Storyliving" residential communities across the country. (It hasn't announced any other locations.)

The community, which will be located between Bob Hope Drive and Monterey Avenue east of Sunnylands, will include 1,700 homes along with a town center that will include shops and restaurants. The Cotino website states that home sales will begin this year, while The Desert Sun has reported that the first residents will move in during 2024.
