Disneyland Resort Expands Reopening Into Buena Vista Street

ANAHEIM, CA — Disneyland Resort fans, there is a little bit of magic coming your way. Starting in November, the resort says they are extending the Downtown Disney shopping district into Buena Vista Street, inside Disney California Adventure.

No admission is needed to enter that area of the park, according to a Disneyland Resort Spokesperson. No rides will be open, and tickets and annual passes remain "on hold" during the park closure due to coronavirus.

This is purely a shopping and dining extension of Downtown Disney, a spokesperson for the resort tells Patch. The park has not yet scheduled an exact date for the reopening, just that it will be "sometime in November, 2020."

As of yet, there are not plans to reopen Main Street of Disneyland Resort, the spokesperson said.

When it opens, guests will arrive into the Downtown Disney District after proper health screening, conducted by Hoag Hospital staff.

Guests will be allowed entry, based upon occupancy, through a gate near the La Brea Bakery. The main gates at Disney California Adventure will remain closed until further notice. Recently, Gov. Gavin Newsom released a pathway to reopening for area theme parks, saying that reopening will be delayed until Orange County enters the yellow tier of his Blueprint for a Safer Economy.

In the meantime, Disneyland Resort is keeping things going for fans of the park and the cast members who work there. Guests will continue to park at the Simba Lot, the designated parking area for Downtown Disney.

Recently, we introduced Downtown Disney guests to the Disneyland Resort Backlot Premiere Shop at Stage 17.

This store is currently showcasing an array of seasonal merchandise for you to browse. With Buena Vista Street soon opening select shopping and dining experiences, you can find even more places to enjoy a memorable meal or a fun shopping excursion during your visit.

Just in time for the holidays, it looks like Disneyland Resort fans may see some Christmas magic, after all. Expect shopping and dining experiences as you stroll down Buena Vista Street, limited to promote proper physical distancing between groups, a spokesperson tells Patch.
