For some, it’s the third, fourth or fifth time they’ve been moved since Hurricane Ian hit Central Florida. Now they’re settling in at Westgate Resort Towers.

Some evacuated to one or two shelters or headed to places like the Red Lion on FEMA’s dime after that. Now they’re calling the place home for at least the month.

Some nursing home patients were able to return to Good Samaritan already. But for many, it could be months if not a year before they have a chance to return.

Osceola County Commissioner Peggy Choudry said the county is still working with sponsors and local groups to figure out what the plan will be to extend their stay there, or somewhere else after the 30 days are up, but it’s going to take time.
