Distracted driver survives 200-foot fall off Highway 224 in Clackamas County

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Video shared by the Oregon State Police shows a car launching off the side of Highway 224 before landing 200 feet down an embankment.

Officials say the driver had taken their eyes off the road when they drove straight off a curve in the highway near Southeast Tong Road on Monday morning.

Police say the driver is “fortunate to have survived this crash.” Clackamas Fire crews treated the driver and used a rope to haul them up and bring them to a local trauma center.
