District 10 baseball playoff pairings set as 5 classes start tournaments next week

The District 10 baseball playoffs are set to begin Monday and conclude on Memorial Day. District 10 will crown five champions in the eight-day period starting with the Class 6A champion on Friday, May 27, between Erie and McDowell. The other four championship games are scheduled for May 30.

District 10 is using three sites in the first half of the week with games at Slippery Rock University, Mercyhurst University and Westminster College.

The Class 2A and 3A quarterfinals are on Monday, including a 3A tripleheader at Mercyhurst. Region 4 co-champion Titusville takes on Mercyhurst Prep at 11:30 a.m. followed by North East and Franklin in a third meeting at 2 p.m. and Region 4 co-champion Fairview against Sharon at 4:30 p.m. The early start is due to Mercyhurst not having lights at its baseball field.

The other 3A quarterfinal is between Region 2 champion Hickory and Girard at Slippery Rock at 4:30 p.m. Iroquois plays Region 1 champion Sharpsville at Slippery Rock at 7 p.m. and Union City takes on Wilmington at Westminster at 4:30 p.m.

The Class 4A quarterfinals are set for Tuesday with doubleheaders at Slippery Rock and Mercyhurst. Region 5 champion Cathedral Prep plays General McLane for a third time at Mercyhurst at 2 p.m. followed by Corry and Harbor Creek at 4:30 p.m. The Slippery Rock doubleheader includes Grove City and Meadville at 4 p.m. and Fort LeBoeuf against Slippery Rock at 6:30 p.m.
