Jul. 13—Richard P. Cashman

ORWIGSBURG — A Port Clinton man must appear in Schuylkill County Court after waiving his right to a preliminary hearing July 6 on charges he assaulted his daughter in May at his residence.

Scott E. Neith Sr., 44, of 61 Centre St., faces charges of simple assault and harassment. Senior Magisterial District Judge Richard P. Cashman bound over those charges for court after Neith waived his right to the hearing.

State police at Schuylkill Haven alleged Neith punched his daughter, Madison Neith, in the forehead around 4 a.m. May 16.

Police said Madison Neith told them she was talking with a friend outside the house, about applying for a job where she worked. She said her mother came outside and told her to come in the house, police said.

She said her father then confronted her and asked about what was going on, according to police. She said that when she tried to explain, he punched her, police said.

Police said Madison Neith suffered a contusion and swelling on her forehead.

Scott Neith is free on $5,000 straight cash bail pending further court proceedings.

Other defendants whose cases Cashman considered on July 6, the charges against each one and the judge's dispositions of the matters included the following people:

Charles J. Cox, 41, of 231 Market St., Auburn; driving under the influence, reckless driving, careless driving and disregarding traffic lane; right to preliminary hearing waived, charges bound over for court.

Jody L. Gibson, 59, of 302 Mahantongo St., First Floor, Pottsville; possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia; right to preliminary hearing waived, charges bound over for court.

John CA Rivera Gonzalez, 27, of 121 W. Lehigh St., Coaldale; DUI, possession of a small amount of marijuana, stop sign violation and disregarding traffic lane; right to preliminary hearing waived, charges bound over for court.
