SHENANDOAH — A homeless man charged with a burglary in Mahanoy City on Jan. 28 waived his right to a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker.

Isiah Kechula, 22, was arrested by Mahanoy City police Cpl. Charles Kovalewski and charged with two counts each of burglary, criminal trespass and receiving stolen property.

By waiving his right to a hearing, Kechula will now have to answer to all charges in Schuylkill County Court where he can plead guilty or plead not guilty and request a trial.

Kovalewski charged Kechula with breaking into a home at 131 E. Mahanoy Ave. and apparently living inside. Kechula also broke into a neighboring home at 129 W. Mahanoy Ave. and removed a sweatshirt and jacket, property of the owner of that building.

Hertzog Jr., 26, of 147 Merriam St., Mount Carmel; waived for court: DUI-controlled substance, illegally operating a vehicle without an ignition interlock, careless driving, operation or permitting operation with unsafe equipment, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Christopher Brennan, 43, of 629 W. South St., Mahanoy City; withdrawn: driving with a suspended or revoked license.

Lisa Marie Neal, 28, of 321 E. Catawissa St., Nesquehoning; withdrawn: harassment.

Jason M. Ashfield, 44, of 53 Hazle St., Delano; withdrawn: aggravated assault, resisting arrest and harassment. Guilty plea: defiant trespass.

PORT CARBON — A man charged with threatening to kill his mother in Norwegian Township on Dec. 23 waived his right to a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge David A. Plachko.

Earl J. Davenport Jr., 34, of 803 Pinewood Drive, Pottsville, was arrested by state police Trooper Zachary Railing of the Schuylkill Haven station and charged with one count each of terroristic threats, criminal mischief, harassment, simple assault, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

By waiving his right to a hearing, Davenport will now have to answer to all six charges in Schuylkill County Court, where he can plead guilty or enter a not guilty plea and request a trial.

Railing charged Davenport after an incident at his home where he became involved in an argument with Bernadette Davenport after she refused to give him a key to her vehicle.

Davenport grabbed his mother by her right cheek, pushed her into a chair and pulled her back when she tried to exit the home for help, Railing said.

The man then went outside where he grabbed a snow shovel and damaged his mother's vehicle and threatened to kill her if she called police, the trooper said.
