The Fennville boys basketball team held off upstart Black River in overtime to advance in the Division 3 district tournament, 65-60.

Ben Peterson scored 20 points to lead Fennville. Quinn Rosema scored 13 points, Aidan Swingle had 11 and Nate Griffin added nine.

Josiah Thomas lead the River Rats with 20 points. Kai Norman had 11 points.

"Absolutely great energy and effort from my team tonight," Black River coach Darrion Denham said. "I couldn’t ask for a better performance from my guys. We played with a chip on our shoulder tonight. After Fennville beat us last year pretty badly, we came out and played almost a perfect game. We contained (Peterson) as much as possible, we sent four guys to the glass all night. Our game plan was to feed the post, we wanted to play inside-out ball because we've been successful when we play that way."

Fennville will host Calvin Christian on Wednesday.

Grandville 60, Holland 34

The Dutch saw their season come to an end in the district opener at home.

Omari Peak led the Dutch with 10 points. Timo Phillips added nine points.

"Extremely proud of the resilience of our group this season. While it did not always translate to success on the scoreboard, they have helped enhance the culture of our program and we are optimistic about years to come with this group," Holland coach Mason Theile said.

Potter's House 78, Saugatuck 39

Saugatuck's season came to a close on Monday in districts, losing to Wyoming Potter's House 78-39.

The Trailblazers played tough in the first, limiting turnovers and rebounding well, and were able to keep things within striking distance at 20-12. But things fell apart in the second. Turnovers and run-outs for the Pumas made for easy buckets and Potter's House took advantage of everyone for a 29-6 quarter and a 49-18 halftime lead.

The Trailblazers were led by senior Will Ayers with 12 points in his final game. Junior Russell Vande Poel added seven points.

Saugatuck went 14-9 on the season.

Potter's House will play Covenant Christian at Fennville on Wednesday.
