Disturbing New Ad Campaign Reveals the Global Span of Sexism

Gender inequality continues to be a worldwide issue; women and girls are often denied equal access to education, medical care, livable wages and personal autonomy

No organization is more aware of the global impact of these inequalities than U.N. Women. Partnering with Christopher Hunt from Ogilvy & Mather Dubai, they've come up with this latest ad campaign.

Using real Google autocomplete results, the ads highlight popular discussions and beliefs about women across the Internet. The results are compelling.

While there's already been some heated commenter debates about the ads' use of Google search results—which reflect user engagement, not necessarily user agreement with their sentiments—the images do provide a snapshot of the out-moded opinions that serve as the basis of gender inequality in many cultures, including our own.
