Ditri tabbed as new boys' basketball coach at Central Bucks South

It took some time but Louie Ditri will finally get his chance to run a basketball team. Ditri was recently named the new boys' basketball head coach at Central Bucks South High School.

"I've been here for 18 years and this feels good," Ditri, 45, said. "I was a freshman team head coach and then spent the next 17 years as an assistant head coach. I had applied for other positions but nothing ever came up with those openings.

"Then just when I wasn't looking, Jason Campbell resigned to become the new assistant coach at Upper Moreland. His son is there and it gives him an opportunity to work with him. I threw my name in there hoping that I'd get an opportunity. And I did."

Ditri has an idea of what he wants to do with the Titans. Last season, Campbell guided CB South to a 15-9 record. This year the Titans have Tyler Meinel returning for his senior season. A 6-foot, 6 power forward, Meinel has been an All-Suburban One League Colonial Division pick in each of the last two years. He was also selected to the All-Intelligencer/Courier Times team last year.

"We've got a pretty good player in Tyler," said Ditri. "We have a good start with him and it's great that I'm starting my first year with him. We also have a shooting guard, Chris Granito, who is also going to be a big help. Between the two of them, we're going to be running up and down the floor. I think that's going to be a good thing for us."

Ditri, who owns and operates a private construction company, believes he's off to a good start.

"We've got some players we're going to be looking at very closely," said Ditri. "I think we have a team that is going to be exciting to watch. I'm really looking forward to coaching this team."
