Diver left at sea rescued by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crew

A scuba diver was left out at sea off Sunny Isles Beach Wednesday morning before being rescued by a Miami-Dade County Fire Rescue crew, according to the Coast Guard.

The diver, who has not been named, was left in the ocean by the driver of the boat that took him out because the vessel was taking on water, Coast Guard Petty Officer 3rd Class Eric Rodriguez told the Miami Herald.

It’s not immediately known how far out they were and if the diver knew he was left behind, Rodriguez said.

Coast Guard and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue received the call around 9:30 a.m., and the fire rescue boat found him and rescued him by 10 a.m., both agencies said.

The boat made it back to the Haulover Marina Center, Rodriguez said. The diver did not require medical care, he said.
