Division 3 indoor track: Worcester Tech finishes fourth; Ojatabu, Nguyen, McCormack win titles

Boys' track

Division 3 state championships: Junior Cyprian Ojatabu was tops in the 300-meter dash (35.77), while classmate Michael Gyimah placed fourth in the 55 (6.72) and fourth in the 300 (36.30) to help the Eagles place fourth with 37 points at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.

Worcester Tech junior Adam Amadou was sixth in the 600 (1:28.64), while the Eagles shined in the relays with Ojatabu and Gyimah teamed with Michael Mireku and Juleein Nicolas to take second in the 800 relay (1:33.77) and Amadou, Carlo Vallejos, Brian Boateng and Gabriel Palomeque-Jara finished fifth in the 3,200 relay (school record 8:40.73).

Nashoba's Adam Balewicz took third in the mile (4:24.63), Sawyer O'Riorden was third in the high jump (5-10) and O'Riorden, Jacob Sutt, Jax Christman and Gabriel Merrow took second in the 3,200 relay as the Wolves took fifth with 30 points.

Nashoba was also strong in the 300, as Merrow finished fifth (36.38) and Sutt (36.89) took sixth, while junior Michael Basteri was seventh in the 1,000 (2:37.91).

Westborough's Alan Nguyen won the 55 hurdles (7.82) and teammate Ben Verheijen was sixth (8.28) as the Rangers finished 16th with 14 points.

Shepherd Hill's Shawn Maple was second in the 300 (36.15) as the Rams tied for 20th with eight points.

Marlborough's Filipe De Araujo was eighth in the 55 hurdles (8.53).

Girls' track

Division 3 state championships: Grace Bateman was third in the 1,000 (3:06.07), Emma Cronin was fourth in the high jump (5 feet), Karlee White was fifth in the 600 (1:41.97) and Meghan Stevens placed sixth in the 2 mile (11:57.89) to help Shepherd Hill finish eighth with 20 points at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Marlborough's Ava VanBuskirk took third in the 300 (41.43) and fifth in the 55 (7.5), while Catherine Seay was fifth in the shot put (31-10.50) to send the Panthers to 11th place with 16 points.

Tantasqua's Haley McCormack took first in the high jump (5-4) and Keoni Savoie was fourth in the 55 (7.46) as the Warriors placed 12th with 15 points.

Westborough's Melinda Haagensen was second in the 55 hurdles (8.68) and seventh in the long jump (16-3½) as the Rangers took 13th with 14 points. Westborough's Lily Vaughn, Nalika Palayoor, Julia Young and Paige Estephan finished fifth in the 3,200 relay (10:26.49).

Nashoba's Ella Rogers was fourth in the 2 mile (11:42.95) as the Wolves took 16th with 13½points. Nashoba's Kylie Doherty, Amelia Choi, Erin Farmer and Paulie Michel were fifth in the 1,600 relay (4:20.45).
