Division I choice: Cathedral Prep football standout Wakeem Page picks New Hampshire

It's not common for football players to make an impact at Cathedral Prep during their sophomore season.

If sophomores earn a spot on the varsity roster, they might see the field when games are out of hand.

Wakeem Page was an exception to the rule in 2020 as he forced his way onto the field and played for a state championship.

Page used his skill and speed to become a big-play wide receiver and will keep his career going on the Division I level as he committed to New Hampshire on Tuesday.

“I chose the University of New Hampshire because I thought it was a great fit for me,” Page said. “I felt like I could be at home there and that it is truly a family and a unique place. I loved what the staff is building there and I wanted to be a part of it.”

Page, an all-district wide receiver, had 35 catches for 511 yards and two touchdowns this past season after hauling in 21 passes for 456 yards and 11 touchdowns as a junior. He also had 280 kickoff return yards this year and 403 yards last year to finish with more than 1,800 all-purpose yards in two seasons.

He also spent time on the field at defensive back as he collected 93 tackles, four fumble recoveries and blocked one field goal in 31 career games.

Page was also crucial in helping the Ramblers transition from longtime coach Mike Mischler to current head coach Mike Krahe.

“Wakeem is one of the most explosive players I have ever coached,” Krahe said. “I’m extremely excited for Wakeem and think that New Hampshire is a great fit for him to continue to grow as a player and as a person.”

Page will graduate in the spring in the top 10 in Prep history with 57 career receptions.
