Dixie Fire Grows to Second-Largest Wildfire in California History

The Dixie Fire burning across multiple Northern California counties became the second-largest wildfire in the state’s history as it grew to over 463,000 acres by Sunday, August 8.

The blaze had destroyed 404 structures and remained at 21 percent containment as of Sunday, according to fire officials.

Ten local communities were designated with unhealthy, very unhealthy, or hazardous air quality conditions on Sunday and continuing into Monday, the US Forest Service reported.
