Dixie Fire Nears a Million Acres, With 75% Containment

Firefighters in California continued their battle to cool the Dixie Fire as the 960,470-acre blaze reached 75 percent containment on Monday, September 13, according to officials.

The wildfire, which has spread across Butte, Tehama, Plumas, Shasta and Lassen counties since it began on July 14, had destroyed 1,329 structures by Monday.

Lassen National Forest posted this footage, showing fire burning inside a tree trunk in the Turner Ridge area of Plumas County.
