Djokovic made honorary citizen of Montenegrin town

Serbian Djokovic posed for photos and received gifts from a crowd of locals who had gathered to meet him.

The world number one was at the centre of a diplomatic dispute earlier this month, when Australia cancelled his visa to enter the country to compete in the Australian Open in a dispute over his COVID status as he had not been vaccinated.

The 34-year-old was deported after an 11-day rollercoaster involving two visa cancellations, two court challenges and five nights in two stints at an immigration detention hotel where asylum seekers are held.
