DMV high school basketball highlights (2/23/24)

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Highlights from eleven high school basketball games from around the DMV, as the playoffs are well underway!

Bethesda-Chevy Chase vs. Magruder (Montgomery County boys final)

BCC gets the win in overtime, defeating Magruder 75-65.

No. 16 Bethesda-Chevy Chase vs. Clarksburg (Montgomery County girls final)

After trailing early, BCC girls storms back to defeat Clarksburg 59-54.

No. 24 Gwynn Park vs. No. 23 Flowers (Prince George’s County girls final)

In Upper Marlboro, Gwynn Park girls edges out Flowers 52-51 to win the Prince George’s County title.

No. 18 Gwynn Park vs. No. 23 Bowie (Prince George’s County boys final)

In the boys final, Gwynn Park gets the win over Bowie 55-42.

No. 17 Maret vs. No. 1 Sidwell Friends (ISL AA girls semifinal)

Sidwell takes down Maret for the third time this season, defeating the Frogs 65-50.

No. 13 Potomac School vs. No. 5 Bullis (ISL AA girls semifinal)

Bullis dominated the first half against Potomac School, but end up winning by a narrow 61-59 margin to advance to the ISL final.

Oakton vs. No. 25 Centreville (VHSL 6D girls region final)

The VHSL announced Friday afternoon that Oakton girls basketball head coach Fred Priester will be inducted into the VHSL Hall of Fame.

As for the game, Oakton couldn’t keep pace with Centreville late. The Wildcats take down the Cougars 59-46.

Madison at No. 21 South Lakes (VHSL 6D boys region final)

A rematch of the Concorde District final from a week ago. South Lakes destroys Madison 64-26.

Stone Bridge at No. 19 Briar Woods (VHSL 5D girls region final)

Briar Woods wins their 15th game in a row, defeating Stone Bridge 49-45.

Massaponax at No. 22 Potomac Falls (VHSL boys 5D region final)

Potomac Falls remain undefeated, defeating Massaponax 53-51.

Brentsville District at Meridian (VHSL girls 3B region final)

In a rematch of last year’s 3B region final, Brentsville District edges out Meridian 42-34.
