West Virginia Senate passes bill aiming for tougher consequences for harming police K-9s

On Wednesday, January 24, 2024, Gov. Justice announced WV DMV’s are expanding their digital services with two new initiatives: digital vehicle registration cards and West Virginia Mobile ID. Starting now, West Virginians renewing their vehicle registration can opt for a digital version of their vehicle registration that can be stored on their smartphone.

The DMV is also developing a digital driver’s license and ID card accessible on smartphones, the West Virginia Mobile ID. Expected to launch September 2024, the West Virginia Mobile ID will help to allow secure and easy identification at select businesses and government agencies.

“The Mobile ID will be a game-changer. It’s secure, convenient, and puts the power of your ID right at your fingertips.”

DMV Commissioner Everett Frazier

The DMV will be working with law enforcement and IDEMIA to ensure these services are implemented seamlessly. The DMV suggest to still carry a physical identification for out of state usage.
