Evacuation drills involving the general public will take place in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast amid the risk of possible Russian terrorist attack at the occupied Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), regional governor Serhiy Lysak said on June 27.

“We’re serious about a possible terrorist attack at the ZNPP,” he said.

“A relevant headquarters has been established in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. An evacuation plan has been developed. Training will be held in the region in case of an emergency. All services will work out various possible scenarios. There are no grounds for panic yet.”

Settlements in the Nikopol and Kryvyi Rih districts, in particular Nikopol, Marhanets and Pokrov, are located in the zone of greatest risk, if Russian occupation forces blow up the ZNPP. Therefore, residents of these settlements must be prepared for emergency evacuation, the governor said.

“In any case, we ask people to prepare for a possible threat, stock up on water and food, and pack a go-bag,” he said.

“The situation is currently under control and the radiation background in the region does not exceed the norm.”

Russia is considering conducting a nuclear attack at the occupied ZNPP, and “has prepared everything for this,” President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on June 22.

Military intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov said on June 20 that Russian forces had mined the cooling pond at ZNPP.

On June 25, Budanov said that Russians had deployed explosives near four of the plant’s six reactors. The situation has never been as serious as now, he stressed.
