Doctor Who: Flux spoilers to follow.
Doctor Who: Flux's Halloween special was met with rave reviews, especially for John Bishop's new character.
The first episode of Doctor Who season 13, titled 'The Halloween Apocalypse', aired tonight (October 31) with a Halloween special to kick off Jodie Whittaker's final season.
Fans couldn't get enough of the newest instalment, which opened with a dramatic scene in which the Doctor and her companion Yasmin Khan (Mandip Gill) were suspended upside down in handcuffs.
Viewers took to Twitter to discuss the new episode in real time.

Long-term fans of the show were particularly excited about a reference early on to one of the previous Doctors.
While trying to unlock the voice-activated handcuffs that the Time Lord and her sidekick are trapped in, the Doctor joked: "Maybe I was Scottish when I set them up!"
Two previous iterations of the Doctor have been Scottish: the tenth Doctor, David Tennant, and the twelfth, Peter Capaldi.
“MAYBE I WAS SCOTTISH WHEN I SET THEM UP” I CANT BELIEVE WE GOT A TWELVE MENTION IM CRYING #DOCTORWHOFLUX

The episode also saw John Bishop make his Doctor Who debut as Dan Lewis, the Doctor's new Liverpudlian companion.
Dan had a dramatic first episode, getting kidnapped, saved by Yasmin, and introduced to the Time Lord and the TARDIS for the first time. And the new arrival was certainly a hit with viewers!

Many commented on the sheer number of sub-plots, characters and Easter eggs featured in this premiere, but it seems to set up for an exciting new season to come, and an apt final season for Jodie Whittaker.
It is still yet to be announced who will inherit the keys to the TARDIS after Jodie finishes, but in the meantime, Doctor Who: Flux promises plenty of drama yet to come as hurricane Flux rips through the universe.
Doctor Who airs on BBC One in the UK. In the US, the show airs on BBC America, with series 1-12 available on HBO Max. Doctor Who: Flux (aka series 13) will premiere on October 31.
