Doctor groped her colleague at veterans hospital in West Virginia, feds say

A doctor who works at a veterans hospital in West Virginia is accused of groping one of her colleagues in an effort to harass and humiliate them, according to federal prosecutors.

Tracey H. Reilly, 53, of Bridgeport, West Virginia, is employed by the Louis A. Johnson Veterans Administration Medical Center in Clarksburg, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of West Virginia announced Sept. 6 in a news release.

Reilly is accused of touching “another employee’s breasts and buttocks” on or around Nov. 28, according to prosecutors and an indictment.

Now, Reilly is indicted on charges of abusive sexual contact and simple assault, prosecutors said.

Information regarding Reilly’s legal representation wasn’t immediately available the afternoon of Sept. 7.

The Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center told McClatchy News in a Sept. 8 statement that “we take this matter extremely seriously, and we have been cooperating with law enforcement since these concerns were raised.”

“As soon as VA learned of these allegations, we removed this clinician from any patient care or interaction,” the statement said.

McClatchy News contacted the VA Clarksburg Healthcare System for comment and about Reilly’s employment status on Sept. 7 and didn’t receive an immediate response.

Reilly focuses on emergency medicine and medical toxicology, according to her online WebMD Care profile.

At the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center, a wide range of healthcare services are provided for veterans, including primary care and specialty services.

Reilly’s indictment comes after the Veterans Affairs Police and the VA Office of the Inspector General investigated her. She is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S Attorney Sarah Wagner, the release said.

No additional information about the case was included in the release or indictment.

Clarksburg is about 125 miles northeast of Charleston, West Virginia.
