Doctor Strange's Benedict Cumberbatch confirms MCU return "next year"

Benedict Cumberbatch has hinted that he will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doctor Strange in 2024.
Cumberbatch, who last played the Sorcerer Supreme in 2022's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, recently teased during the JW3 Speaker Series: "There are some Marvel capers in the making next year."
While this is exciting news for fans, the actor has remained tight-lipped about which project he'll appear in.

If Cumberbatch is referring to a project he is filming next year, which seems likely, he could return for another standalone Doctor Strange movie or appear in the next team-up film, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
It's also possible that the star could make a cameo in the upcoming Blade movie or the Fantastic Four reboot.
But, if he means that he'll be appearing in the MCU again in 2024, then Cumberbatch could pop up in either Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts, or even Deadpool 3.

Outside of the MCU, Cumberbatch was recently cast in Dylan Southern's The Thing With Feathers. He'll play father with two sons who is struggling to cope after the sudden death of his wife
The Sherlock actor is also set to star in the upcoming Netflix show Eric, Wes Anderson's The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, as well as the biblical epic The Book of Clarence opposite James McAvoy.
Cumberbatch's busy schedule doesn't stop there, as he has also joined the cast of Morning alongside the likes of Naomi Ackie and Laura Dern. Directed by Justin Kurzel, the film is set in a world where the need for sleep has been eradicated.
