Chiefs fans know what they’ll be doing Thursday: watching the NFL Kickoff Game from GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

The NFL Network is hoping to get those Chiefs fans to tune in a day earlier. On Wednesday, that network will show two new documentaries about the Chiefs.

“America’s Game: 2022 Kansas City Chiefs” will air at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

It’s narrated by “Big Slick” co-host/actor/Chiefs fan Paul Rudd, and includes interviews with Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, tight end Travis Kelce and defensive tackle Chris Jones.

In the hourlong documentary, Kelce talked about his motivation after the Chiefs were written off by some because they traded All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

“I heard a lot of people saying that it was over with for the Chiefs,” Kelce says in the show, per an NFL Media news release, “and that’s where it really started for me.”

Jones outlined his motivation after the losing the AFC Championship Game a year earlier.

“My whole offseason I did extra conditioning, extra training. … Everything I could have asked for: AFC Championship on the line against the same team,” Jones says, per NFL Media.

After that show, “Time’s Yours 2: The 2022 Kansas City Chiefs” will air at 8 p.m., and it promises “a close-up look at the Kansas City Chiefs’ second Super Bowl title in four years from the coaches’ perspective.”

Actor Morgan Spector (“Homeland” and “Boardwalk Empire”) narrates the documentary. There are interviews with Chiefs coach Andy Reid, general manager Brett Veach, CEO/chairman Clark Hunt and nine coaches.

Among the topics the NFL Network said will be covered: a whiteboard in Reid’s office where coaches share ideas for plays each week, what the coaches said about Chad Henne’s performance in relief of Mahomes in the AFC Divisional Round win over the Jaguars, and the response to losing Hill and safety Tyrann Mathieu.

The NFL Network shared a quote from Steve Spagnuolo on Mathieu’s departure: “First of all, losing him was like losing a son. … He was the emotional leader and it was a big void to fill. I don’t think it could be filled by one person.”

Both documentaries also can be streamed on NFL+.
