A documentary series on the 1982 Milwaukee Brewers — so far, the only Brewers team to make it to the World Series — is in the works, according to a report from Hollywood news site Deadline.com.

Deadline reported Tuesday that principal photography has been completed on "Just a Bit Outside: The Story of the 1982 Milwaukee Brewers," the title a reference to one of Brewers broadcaster Bob Uecker's catchphrases from the movie "Major League."

According to Deadline, former CBS Entertainment President Kelly Kahl and Cannonball Productions principals Sean Hanish and Paul Jaconi-Biery are behind the project. Hanish, who is directing the docuseries, grew up in Brookfield and studied film at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Kahl, who was born in Burlington, also is a UW-Madison alum.

“As a 14-year-old boy, I cheered from the stands at over 60 games that season, riding the emotional roller-coaster that this incredible team took the city of Milwaukee, and the state of Wisconsin on,” Hanish told Deadline.com. “Being able to meet my boyhood idols and hear them open up about the highs and lows of that season, and their intimate connection to each other, and to Brewer fans, is the culmination of a boyhood dream that I’m thrilled to share with sports lovers everywhere.”

The 1982 Brewers won the American League pennant but lost the World Series to the St. Louis Cardinals in seven games. After losing the Series, they still returned to a heroes' welcome when they came back to Milwaukee.

The Brewers participated in the docuseries, which reportedly includes interviews with Uecker, Robin Yount, Ted Simmons, Paul Molitor, Rollie Fingers, Bud Selig, Pete Vuckovich, Cecil Cooper and other members of the team, including Gorman Thomas, who Deadline.com says is an associate producer on the project.

"Just a Bit Outside" is the fourth project by Hanish, Jaconi-Biery and Kahl, though apparently their first sports-centric one. They also produced "Saint Judy," "Sister Cities" and "Return to Zero"; the latter earned an Emmy nomination in 2014 for Minnie Driver for best actress in a miniseries or TV movie.

There's no word yet when or where the docuseries will air.
