What does 850 pounds of flour and 3,200 eggs equal? A tasty meal that helps others

The annual St. Paul’s United Methodist Church Chicken Noodle Dinner is back — this year makes No. 76 — and it once again will be a drive-through event instead of in person.

The Jan. 28 dinner will be at the church at 1356 N. Broadway. The drive-through will be open 11 a.m to 6 p.m.

Dinners are $12 for chicken and noodles, potatoes and gravy and coleslaw. There also is dessert, including pies and cakes. Items can be purchased individually as well.

Some of the money the event raises will go to the church’s outreach programs, such as a brown bag lunch initiative to feed homeless people downtown.

St. Paul’s has more than 100 volunteers who throw the dinner, some of whom come from other states to help.

The church likes to share statistics about the event each year. This year, that includes 850 pounds of flour, 3,200 eggs, 500 pounds of cabbage and 10 gallons of Miracle Whip. There will be more than 150 desserts.
