Does Auburn football coach Bryan Harsin have assurance he will finish season? Here's what he said

OXFORD, Miss. — Auburn football played one of its strongest games of the season before falling 48-34 to Ole Miss Saturday. But it remains to be seen what the result will mean for the Tigers' embattled coach, Bryan Harsin.

After the defeat, Harsin was asked if he had received assurances from "the right people" that he would be able to "see it through" and remain Auburn's coach until the end of the season. However, he did not provide a clear answer.

"We've talked about this before, it's been no different for me ever since I've coached," Harsin said. "My job is to help this football team improve and get better, every single player. There's more to it than that, but we don't talk about those things. We talk about the games, and that's fine, but there's a lot to it.

"Those guys know that too, every day. They're gonna get our very best and we expect the same from them. That's the relationship that you have. No question, we'll keep working to get these guys better, and we will. I think that's the thing right now. We've got a little bit further to go. We gotta close that gap. We'll absolutely do that."

Harsin's record at Auburn fell to 9-11 with the defeat to the ninth-ranked Rebels. After surviving an internal investigation in February, he entered his second season on the Plains on the hot seat, and his job security has frequently been called into question since.

The Tigers (3-4, 1-3 SEC) are off next Saturday before returning home to play Arkansas on Oct. 29.
